Commercial Fire Preparation

It is unfortunate that many businesses will experience a commercial fire in their life span. With wildfires growing in our area, how we respond and react can determine our health and safety, as well as the future of a business. Being as prepared as possible is the best course of action in the steps we take during, and before a fire may start. Here are some helpful tips for commercial fire preparation
Take Down Curtains:
Many curtains are made from synthetic fabrics and can easily catch fire. If you have been asked to evacuate, removing your curtains may be a good idea!
Move your flammable items away from windows and doors:
Much like curtains, office furniture may be able to catch fire, and it is a great idea to keep them as far away from the heat of an oncoming fire as possible.
Keep a ready-to-go bag:
In this bag, having things like emergency supplies, a flashlight, and important documents are a great idea. When a fire begins to grow, being able to leave as quickly as possible is essential. Check out Cal Fire’s web page on fire preparation for a great list of items for an emergency supply kit.
Have an Emergency Ready Profile:
At SERVPRO® we offer an emergency ready profile that will help build a plan of action to implement in your business if a fire or other disaster occurs. This includes items like a plan of action, who to call, and a line of command so decisions can be made quickly and effectively.
