SERVPRO across the nation has become a trusted resource for the cleaning and disinfection of homes and businesses during this time. Locally, SERVPRO of North Shasta, Trinity & Greater Tehama Counties has already started the process of helping places like DMV's to be safer with Proactive Cleaning.

What is cleaning vs disinfecting?

Cleaning is the removal of germs, dirt, and impurities from the surface. It lowers the risk of spreading infection by lower the amount of germs. Cleaning removes germs but does not kill them.

Disinfecting uses chemicals to kill germs on the surface. Disinfecting doesn't clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing the germs after the surface has been cleaned, it can lower the risk of spreading infection even further.

What is the difference between a Household and Hospital Grade disinfectant?

Both cover the range of kill claims for Broad Spectrum microbes, but a Hospital Grade Disinfectant has the added kill claim for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacterium that is responsible for many surgical and wound infections in hospitals. Hospital Grade disinfectants will have hospital use claims on product label.

What products do we have that are on the current EPA list?

We currently have five products that are on the list: #100 SERVPROXIDE, #172 Benefect Decon-30, #127N Concrobium Disinfectant 2, #175 Vanquish, and #154F Sporicidin

How many days after the disinfection treatment will the product keep killing SARS-CoV-2?

There is no time frame for this application with a virus. The EPA does not allow any product to be labeled as a long term “preventative” kill agent for viruses.

I have a competitor that is marketing long-term kill claims on surfaces for SARS-CoV-2, how can this be?

Your competitor is misleading the customer into thinking a product they are using is EPA Registered for a long-term viral kill claim. The only products that have any type of long-term claim are for bacteria and mold and not viruses like SARS-CoV-2.

The best actions to prevent contracting COVID-19, given by the CDC are social distancing, cleaning with EPA Registered disinfectants, washing hands regularly with soap and water and not touching one’s face.
