Lightning damage for a Redding resident.

On March 27th, 2019 a Redding resident was in for a "shock" when lightning suddenly struck a tree near their home. As reported by KRCR news, a nearby resident named Ginnifer Carpenter gives her account: 

"A huge blue flash and it felt like a bomb hit our house. You know it's probably just seconds but everything just turned blue for a split second and like I said it was just raining so hard and with the hail and everything, it was just making it very hard to see what was going on," 

According to National Geographic, A flash of lightning can heat the air around it to temperatures five times hotter than the sun’s surface. 

What we were surprised to find was due to the extreme heat in a flash, the moisture in a tree can immediately vaporize when lightning hits it. This builds pressure which can lead to the tree exploding. Many times, it is surprising to find what caused the storm damage, but what is never a surprise is the way we handle storm damage restoration.
