Why live in Northern California during wildfire season?

Do people ask why you live in a state that ranks the highest, in the nation, for wildfires? They do if you live in California. In 2021, 2,233,666 acres burned in California, outranking the next in line, Oregon, coming in hot at 828,777 acres. Do the math, California wildfires burned 1,404,889 acres more than any other state in America.

So let me try to explain. Imagine buying a new computer at your local electronics store. You get it home, fire it up, and a beautiful stock photo of a mountain appears as your background. Chances are the glass-like lake with the snow-capped mountains in the background belongs to this state. Even the biggest critics would take their chances of surviving a wildfire season with just one opportunity to stroll around Lassen National Park. The beauty of Northern California is worn like a badge by local residents, but so are the fears and scars of Fire Season. As the Summer months approach, the threat of wildfires grows, which traditionally peak between July and October, creating a very slim timeline for everyone in Shasta County to prepare for the season. Cal Fire, including Redding firefighters, train all year, gearing up to protect our structures, forests, and lands. With 3,629 structures burned in 2021, this can be a daunting task. Superheroes look a lot like firefighters in California.

Community is Strong

One thing we have discovered, during a crisis, we come together. We have seen the devastation of wildfire season time and time again, but as a community, we rise. Choosing Andra Day's "Rise Up" as this community's anthem, we become the guardians of these precious lands, a call we don't take lightly.

"One day, you will find someone that chooses you and continues to choose you every day, and that's when you will be thankful for everything that happened the way it did." - Anonymous Quote

From local residents to local business owners, we see wildfire season as a time to put differences aside and time to come together. SERVPRO of North Shasta, Trinity, and Greater Tehama Counties is one such local business. Specializing in fire restoration and cleanup, we have been in the community for over 20 years. Local firefighters train all year, but so do SERVPRO technicians. We are certified, trained, and ready 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to be ready for our community when it needs us. If a fire affects your home or business structure, our first step is to assess and inspect any fire damage, followed by boarding up or creating roof tarps for your home or business. This creates a barrier to the outside world, protecting your belongings from any more damage from natural elements or vandalism. The removal, cleanup, and restoration process then begins. Remember we are local, we have seen the devastation of Shasta County fire season, and know how to walk you through each step of the process.

Here at SERVPRO, we love our beautiful land and the people that call it home. The outside world might not understand why we choose to build homes and businesses in the state with the most wildfires, but it just means they haven't seen it!

We are local strong!

Come see the beauty of Shasta County, California!
